A year ago at this time hospitals were weeks from being swamped by a surge of coronavirus patients, grocery store workers were stocking the shelves as there was a run on things like toilet paper and other essentials and delivery drivers would soon be working around the clock as people hunkered inside their homes.
Essential workers were about to become New Jersey’s heroes. Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday made it official by signing a resolution that designates March 9 of each year as “COVID-19 Heroes Day.”
